About Dartmoor Arts
Dartmoor Arts is an artist led organisation based in Drewsteington Dartmoor, just a few miles from Exeter. We run an annual summer school every July in Drewsteignton and other events throughout the year including artists’ talks and weekend workshops. Our aim is to offer courses in subjects that are not always readily available in mainstream art schools, outstanding tuition, discussion and debate, access to high profile artists and a supportive environment for artists of all ages to work and develop their practice. Young artists have a chance to work alongside and be mentored by more established artists and many of our students go on to exhibit, have more opportunities open to them and make valuable connections as a result of their experience with Dartmoor Arts.
We offer:
Courses and workshops in different disciplines such as:
Printmaking, iron casting, spatial structures, storytelling, painting, drawing, documentary film making, digital photography and stone carving.
- Mentoring for young artists by established professionals
- Access to high profile artists and speakers from different fields of fine art, science, literature
- A supportive and encouraging environment for young artists who want a career in the arts
- A small and intimate summer school experience where students can get excellent tuition
- Traditional skills as well as the latest use of technology
- Access to materials, equipment and subjects not available anywhere else
- Work alongside some of the best artists practising in the UK
Dartmoor Arts and Schools Dartmoor Arts is very keen to work in partnership with schools in the south west and aims to attract young students who would benefit from participating in the summer school.

About the summer school
Dartmoor Arts Summer School presents an exceptional programme of courses and events that offer young, emerging and established artists a space in which to explore the range and depth of their abilities and realise the possibilities of their work.
The intensive week-long programme consists of practical daytime workshops, evening lectures, film screenings, music and performance events, all based in and around the village of Drewsteignton on Dartmoor.
